Yesterday I watched 10,500 people run either a 1.5k, 10k or half marathon.
There were people there who have run for many years, and others who just started distance running or walking. They had set a goal and were going to achieve it. They had worked hard.
I stood at the finish line and watched many of these people come across, and it was so heartwarming. Serious goosebumps from seeing the emotion on their faces.
Some came across doing cartwheels (literally) while others came across ready to collapse but still carried that sense of accomplishment.
There were tears of joy. And laughter.
There was frustration from some of those who didn’t make their time.
I was really proud to be part of the event. And since I was the person doing social media, I got to share lots of the pictures and stories, and will continue to do so for days.
It also made me feel motivated to try something like that for myself. Setting that attainable goal that while pushing you to your limits is doable and thus extremely satisfying would be so much fun.
I just have to figure out what that goal should be. A few years ago my goal was to dance on stage again, which I did. I lived off that high for weeks. So maybe I need to train for a run. Or dance on stage again.
I just need to find something that is going to make me work to achieve while benefiting my health.
How about you? What do you have in mind for a goal?Share this post!
And another version which I really like is from The Voice by Meghan Linsey
