Day 69 – Regret

RegretDo you ever regret something? Wonder if you could have done something different?

I believe we all do things we wish we hadn’t. Sometimes just little things. Sometimes larger. But doing things wrong is okay. We all make mistakes. Such is life.

The mistake though is living with regret. Not letting it go and living in the ‘if only’ world. It is so easy to live in the what if world.

When I was younger I tended to let my regret last much longer. I agonized over my mistakes. I replayed scenarios over and over and of course came up with the better way.

But lately I have found that I don’t regret things. Oh sure, I have regret when I do something stupid. And I will feel bad and wish I could change things. But I try not to let it overcome me.

The way I try to get over my regret is by believing in fate and that everything we do in life is happening the way it is supposed to. So if doing wrong is my path, then it is my path and I will learn from it.

And once I have learned from it, then I move on.

So bundle that regret, put a big bow on it and put it on the shelf.

The past is a great place and I don’t want to erase it or to regret it, but I don’t want to be its prisoner either. Mick Jagger
