Music Club

I have always loved music. From my first little green record player playing Donny Osmond albums, I have been obsessed with listening to music. Hopefully my Music Club is a chance for me to share songs that I love and hopefully help you discover new music or bring back amazing memories. Click here for my list to date.

Stealer’s Wheel “Stuck in the Middle with You”

Stealers Wheel Stuck in the Middle with YouHad to post this one on my son’s 19th birthday as it was on my playlist when I was in labour with him! And it is what I think about every time I hear this song. Thank goodness the stuck in the middle had a good outcome so the memories are great. And now I have a 19 year old son. How is that possible?? Released 1978.

Eric Clapton – “Wonderful Tonight”

Eric Clapton Wonderful TonightI love love love this song. This song has everything, especially this extended version with the amazing vocals of Katie Kissoon. Such a romantic song. They don’t get any more romantic than this. Just simple. And the guitar and the backing vocals are haunting. Can listen to this one over and over and get goosebumps every time. Released 1977.

John Mayer “Body is a Wonderland”

John Mayer Your Body is a WonderlandJohn Mayer has said that he’s embarrassed by this song because of the cheese factor, and yes it’s happy and has silly lyrics, but that’s what makes it so fun to listen too. His live versions are the best. Anytime John Mayer can go on a guitar solo is a really good thing. Saw him live in concert in 2010 and his shows are incredible. His guitar solos (facial expressions included) are out of this world. So sexy. Released 2002.

Pink “Dear Mr. President”

Pink Dear Mr PresidentI believe Pink is one of the best writers and performers of this era. She tops my bucket list of performers I still need to see live (I own her concert DVD for my fix until then). And this song is incredible. I imagine her performing at Woodstock in the ’70s every time I listen to it. My favourite version is with the Indigo Girls. Simple song that allows you to listen to every single lyric. Released 2006.

I love live performances, so more often than not I will link a live performance of the artists.

Pharrell Williams “Happy”

365-5Not the best song of all time, but it sure has the capability of making you smile and wanting to just get up and move. When this song comes on it always grabs my attention and takes me out of whatever I was doing.   Sometimes a little distraction is all a day needs!  And when it’s on, a little dancing is a must.
