“My Grape Escape” by Laura Bradbury

My Grape EscapeThis book is the first of two books in the series by Laura Bradbury recommended by my friend Jean.

A twenty-six year old newlywed on the path to a prestigious legal career in London buys a decrepit, revolutionary-era ruin in the tiny Burgundian village of Magny-les-Villers. Was that split-second, life-altering decision profoundly wise or utterly insane? Find out in My Grape Escape – a story for anyone who’s imagined taking a U-Turn in life to seize their joy.

Day 310 – Yoga in the Park

Yoga in the ParkOur local park does free yoga in the park one evening a week during the summer. And close to 100 people come out for an hour of relaxation in the park.

There is something very intoxicating about doing something like yoga in a park. The green grass, sound of the birds (even the very loud crow was entertaining), kids playing, trees rustling, people playing – and then amongst it all are people lying on their yoga mats.

It wasn’t the best yoga class I have ever gone to as it was hard to hear and see the instructor. And there were lots of distractions. But those distractions were actually a great test to make you really work your concentration skills.

It was also a great sense of community being around so many all doing a yoga class. I love watching people walking towards the park with their yoga mats in their hands. There a people of all ages and abilities, but the nice thing about yoga is there is no judgement (thank goodness!).

I am so proud of our community for putting on these yoga classes. It shows an understanding of how important these types of events are. And also excited to see so many people coming out to take part.

A huge collective deep breath. 100 downward dogs and cobras, warrior poses and tree stance.

If only this was the way we could participate in yoga classes like this every day.

Peace.
