Boney M “Rasputin”

Boney MBoney M have actually changed the ending of this song because the lyrics were in poor taste, but it was a classic that keeps on giving. I have such memories of listening to this song in my friends basement when we were in junior high. Released in 1978.

You have to watch this video – 1970s at their best – enjoy!

“Zoli” by Colum McCann

ZoliZoli is a young Roma girl from Czechoslovakia. A gypsy. And one that learns to read and write and thus eventually viewed as someone with power. She is orphaned as a young girl, raised by her grandfather. It is a fascinating story and based on the true story of Gypsy poet Papsuza. Colum McCann is excellent at writing stories based on the truth, but fictionalized to make up for the information missing. Published 2008.
