How do you feel about your age? Are you proud of it? Or do you hide from it, embarrassed to let anyone know your age?
I watched a number of women this weekend not wanting to reveal their age and it really got me thinking. Why would you ever not be proud of your age?
To me, age means we have survived. We are still standing, have weathered life’s storms (and may still be weathering them), have learned lots, loved lots, felt lots and are still here to talk about it.
I am proud of my 49.5 years on this earth. Yep getting wrinkles and sags here and there are not a highlight. And paying more every couple of months to give me my “youthful blonde” to cover up my sporadic grey hairs (okay maybe not so sporadic) sucks.
But I am loud and proud about my age.
Today is my BFF’s birthday. I won’t give away her age but I will always be her younger best friend. We are both proud of our age. Because with that age comes another year of our friendship. Thirty years of friendship means we have experienced so much together. I can’t imagine not having those years between us.
We need to embrace our age. Because aging is much better than not aging!!
So Happy Birthday to my BFF… may we continue to age well together!! xoShare this post!
I saw Anna Nalick live and this song has stuck with me ever since. Listen to the lyrics. I’m a big believer in breathing. I mean we all are, but those deep down breaths that allow us to get through any situation. So this song has got me through a few situations. Released 2004.
