There is probably nothing better in life than watching your children on Christmas morning. That look of wonder and excitement. That joy that Santa Claus actually came.
And the best thing is, even though they are 16 and 19 now, they still get that look on their faces when they see the presents under the tree in the morning.
Our family tradition has always been to have nothing under the tree until the morning of Christmas. Because then the surprise is so much bigger. So exciting.
Then add to that our dog who thinks Christmas was actually made for him. He goes crazy for his stocking. He runs through the living room sniffing out each stocking until he finds his. And then within minutes he has torn apart his gifts.
All that fun and laughter. And it really isn’t about the presents, even for the kids. It is about the magic of Christmas morning.
My favourite memories myself are sitting in my room with my brothers waiting for the clock to turn to 7:00 am. We would usually wake up at a ridiculously early hour but were not allowed to go downstairs until 7:00 am. Hour of sitting there with my brothers. Torture but also made the anticipation even more exciting.
So whether it is your memories from your childhood, or watching your children, your pets, your nieces or nephews, it is all magical.

Dr. Suess was part of my childhood, which then became part of my children’s childhood. And I suspect someday we will be reading Dr. Suess to our grandchildren and they to them. He is a classic, and How the Grinch Stole Christmas is the best! It is Christmas!
