“The White Bone” by Barbara Gowdy

The White BoneWhen my husband gave me this novel by Barbara Gowdy for my birthday one year, I thought he was nuts. There was no way I was going to like a story told from the point of view of an elephant. But he got it right. It is a really interesting novel and was nominated for a Scotiabank Giller Prize in 1998. Give it a try!

George Michael “Careless Whispers”

George Michael Careless WhispersWhile teenagers these days might choose sides like Team Jacob vs Team Edward (Twilight movies), I remember trying to decide who was cuter with Wham!, George Michael or Andrew Ridgeley. I was a fan of Andrew, although it was George who went on to have a more successful career.
