Pharrell Williams “Happy”

365-5Not the best song of all time, but it sure has the capability of making you smile and wanting to just get up and move. When this song comes on it always grabs my attention and takes me out of whatever I was doing.   Sometimes a little distraction is all a day needs!  And when it’s on, a little dancing is a must.

“The Power of One” by Bryce Courtenay

I have read this book a number of times and have recommended it to so many people over the years. It was first published in 1989 by Australian author Bryce Courtenay, telling the story of a young English Boy growing up in South Africa during the 1930s and 1940s. Peekay goes through many adversities, meeting a number of unique characters along the way. I have read this book a couple of times as it’s messages throughout have always made me think. I find it’s one of those books where I want to meet the characters. They made a movie version of the book, but it’s not near as good as the book. Great read for teenagers too.

Buy this wonderful book at your local bookstore!

Little Tap Dancer

365-1There are so many laugh out loud videos and I truly look forward to watching a couple a day. One of the best feelings in the world is laughing! I absolutely love to laugh. And the best thing is it is unique to every person. I will laugh about something, show it to the kids, and I get one of those “really?” looks. So a qualifier here… These moments make me laugh. Not guaranteed to make you laugh!

My favourite quote includes the phrase “dance like no one is watching”. This little girl has that down perfectly!

Dilled Salmon With Leek Parcels

Cooking is not my thing. I can cook just fine following a recipe. I can even veer off the recipe and add my own touches (not always a good thing). But it’s just not something I work my day around. And I have two teenage boys who would love me to come up with new healthy ideas everyday. This salmon recipe is a favourite of my family. I try to buy salmon when it’s on sale or at Costco because the fillets are so huge. Add the salmon with some brown rice and vegetables and it’s delicious.
